![]() Report by D Illingsworth
After a week of sunshine, heavy rain and cloud greeted the runners for the 2011 Christmas handicap, although there were fewer than last year there were some good performers on the day. The new man on scene, with the fastest time on the day in 23mins13secs was Matt Nowell beating the course record by 5sec which was held by Neal Page from the first year on the new Shelf course back in 2001. 1st runner back this year was Alice Buttle (now back with Bradford Airedale as 2nd claim) with an improved time of 1min20sec from last years run. Steve Wilcock was the 1st Bradford Airedale man to cross the line to win the Handicaps Trophy, with an improved time of 1min02sec. on last years run. Some good running and improved times were given by Tony Davison, Martin Firth (Queensbury) and Gerard Mills. And still as good as ever with 1sec. off her handicap time was Andrea Dennison now with Bingley Harriers. Thanks must go to Brian Elsey, Keith Ackroyd and Chairman Chris Hainsworth for helping on day and also to the handicapper for getting the times with in two minutes.
